Martijn
One of the first users to respond eagerly to our request to interview users was Martijn. “I work as a Robotic Software Developer at a large insurance company, so the fact that you trade with bots immediately caught my attention.”
Martijn already has some experience with crypto, but mainly buy and hold. “I know you could earn a pretty penny in late 2017 and early 2018 if you sold your crypto in time. Unfortunately, I waited too long”. Martijn thinks trading in crypto is very interesting and he has gained some knowledge via YouTube, but never ended up doing any trading himself.
Martijn & BOTS
In early 2020, Martijn was flipping through the channels on a Sunday morning when he saw Michiel and Colin sitting with Harry Mens in Business Class. “Naturally, I was immediately interested. Robots, automation and crypto in one. I wanted to know more about that. 1 + 1 + 1 = 3” And so Martijn downloaded the beta version of the BOTS app.
Martijn’s first impression was a good one. He experiences the app as accessible and user friendly. “Adding funds to a bot actually goes very smoothly as well. You can have a bot working for you in no-time. Quick and easy.”
Because Martijn has some crypto experience and theoretical trading knowledge, he may have an advantage over non-experienced users. Does that make it easier for him to understand the app? Martijn laughs at that statement: “Not at all, I could easily explain the BOTS app to my neighbour so that he, without any experience, could start trading on the app as well.”
He pauses for a couple of seconds. “One thing that could be improved is the charts. I see a lot of ambiguity here. For less experienced users, but even among the more experienced users. So there is room for improvement here. I know people are working on it, so I’m looking forward to the release that implements the improvements.”
Martijn currently has 16 bots running in the BOTS app. His favourite bots are those from Boosting Alpha. “I really look into those bots. I map them based on the basecoin, the crypto that is traded, the strategy, the risk profile and, of course, the return. The BOTS app does not contain all information. I often get to know a lot from bot builders who share information via Discord.”
It’s not surprising that Martijn’s favourite bots are from Boosting Alpha. “I think their presence on Discord offers great added value. I learn a lot from the whole community as it is, but the presence of the bot creator also creates confidence in the bot and how it works.”
And although Martijn sees that the support channel on the BOTS Discord is well staffed, he sometimes feels their presence in other channels is lacking. “There are just a lot of questions, especially in this ‘early stage’, and having the answer to every question is absolutely essential for the investors’ confidence.” As an example, Martijn indicates that recently there was a bot in a trade, but the bot had a much lower return than the crypto (1.2% versus 15%). “A brief explanation (in this case it was due to the liquidity model) or a comment that it is being investigated, can make the difference for users of the app.”
When we ask Martijn what his main points for improvement are for the app and for BOTS as a whole, he indicates that he would really like to see the charts improved. “And besides that, it would be fantastic if there were some way to compare bots. I currently use an Excel spreadsheet that I made myself, but this functionality would be a real asset.” Martijn would also like to see a roadmap. This roadmap should make it clear what functionalities can be expected when. “And I won’t be difficult about a few days more or less.” Martijn laughs.
Of course, we also want to know what he likes about the BOTS app. It doesn’t take long for Martijn to answer that. The BOTS app is simply genius. It is simple and user friendly, and that is truly new in this market. He is also enthusiastic about the range of bots in the app. “Oh, and I think you are making good moves forward as a company. I have a lot of faith in RevenYou, in the collaboration with the bot builders and their level of expertise, and the ambitious growth plans really appeal to me, so keep it up!”
The future of BOTS
Those growth plans do give Martijn some cause for concern. “After the last broadcast of Business Class where you were a guest, the new inflow was so massive that the app froze for a moment. This was ultimately solved well, but what if the rollout to other countries is so fast that it adversely affects the stability of the app? That would be really dumb and has to be avoided.”
Apart from these growing pains and his constructive criticism, Martijn is more than enthusiastic about the BOTS app and its future. “I am absolutely convinced that the BOTS app can become huge. Those growing pains are logical and understandable. I see a lot of hard work happening to resolve the issues, and I predict a great and special future for BOTS.”
There is another brief silence. “And my ROI needs to stay high, of course,” says Martijn with a wink.
